洛神花
Hibiscus
洛神花 (Luò Shén Huā), known botanically as Hibiscus sabdariffa, is one of the few botanicals that has independently found its way into food and drink cultures across multiple continents. In Taiwan, it is closely associated with the Amis people of Hualien and the lush agricultural landscapes of eastern Taiwan, where roselle fields stretch in vivid rows each autumn. In Egypt, it is karkadé — brewed hot or cold, often sweetened, a fixture in daily life. In the Caribbean, it is sorrel; in Mexico, Jamaica. Different names, different traditions, the same instinct: that this tart, deeply colored botanical belongs in the cup.
